Cookie Policy
Last updated: 21st July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Kinder Collective (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on kindercollective.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember your preferences, keep your basket, and help us understand how the site is used. We also use similar technologies such as pixels, local storage and, where you consent, behavioural analytics tools that record on-page interactions.
How we use cookies
We group the cookies we use into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (e.g. keeping items in your basket, secure checkout, fraud prevention, remembering your cookie choices). These are always active and don’t require consent.
- Analytics & performance — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are only used with your consent, except where a tool is cookieless (see Plausible below).
- Preferences — remember choices such as region or language.
We do not currently use advertising/marketing cookies to build profiles for targeted advertising.
The cookies we use
1. Strictly necessary (Shopify)
Our store runs on Shopify, which sets essential cookies to operate the shop, secure checkout and prevent fraud. Examples include:
| Cookie | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
cart, cart_sig, cart_ts
|
Remembers the contents of your basket | Up to 2 weeks |
_secure_session_id, _shopify_s, _shopify_y
|
Session management and Shopify’s own analytics | Session – 1 year |
secure_customer_sig |
Keeps you signed in to your account | 1 year |
_tracking_consent, _cmp_a
|
Stores your cookie-consent choices | 1 year |
keep_alive, localization
|
Session continuity and region/currency | Session – 1 year |
A full, up-to-date list of Shopify’s cookies is available in Shopify’s cookie documentation.
2. Analytics & performance — with consent
Plausible Analytics (cookieless): We use Plausible for privacy-friendly site analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal data or track you across sites, so it runs without needing consent. See Plausible’s data policy.
Contentsquare / Hotjar: With your consent, we use Contentsquare (which includes Hotjar) to understand how visitors interact with our pages — for example through aggregated heatmaps and anonymised session analytics. These tools set cookies and only load after you accept analytics cookies in our banner. Examples include:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_cs_id |
Contentsquare | Stores an anonymised visitor ID, visit count and timestamps | 13 months |
_cs_s |
Contentsquare | Holds session data such as page count and replay status | 30 minutes |
_cs_c |
Contentsquare | Records your consent for session-replay masking | 13 months |
_cs_optout |
Contentsquare | Set if you opt out of Contentsquare tracking | 13 months |
_hjSessionUser_{id} |
Hotjar | Recognises a returning, anonymised user | 1 year |
_hjSession_{id} |
Hotjar | Holds current session data | 30 minutes |
_hjFirstSeen |
Hotjar | Identifies a visitor’s first session | Session |
_hjAbsoluteSessionInProgress |
Hotjar | Detects the first pageview of a session | 30 minutes |
_hjIncludedInSessionSample_{id} |
Hotjar | Determines whether the visit is included in Hotjar’s data sample | Session |
Where session analytics are used, on-screen text you type into forms is masked so we do not capture personal details. Learn more in Contentsquare’s privacy policy, the Contentsquare cookie list, and Hotjar’s cookie documentation.
Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit our site, our cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the cookie preferences option in the banner.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings — including deleting existing cookies or blocking new ones. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site (such as checkout) from working. Guidance for common browsers is available at aboutcookies.org or allaboutcookies.org.
Third-party services
Some cookies are set by third parties who process data on our behalf or provide services to us. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Shopify — our e-commerce platform: shopify.com/legal/privacy
- Plausible Analytics — cookieless analytics: plausible.io/privacy
- Contentsquare / Hotjar — behavioural analytics: contentsquare.com/privacy-and-security
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
