What it is: John Schu, a librarian and former ambassador of school libraries, has created a loving letter to schools and the people that make up schools’ communities in this picture book debut, beautifully illustrated by Veronica Miller Jamison. This picture book celebrates everything a school community can be. More than just a building, it's about the people who learn and work together, the questions we ask, the things we discover and the kindness we share. A warm and thoughtful book about connection, community, hope and belonging.

Why we love it: We love its gentle reminder that school is about so much more than classrooms and lessons. It's a lovely book for helping children think about the people around them and what makes a community feel safe, welcoming and connected - especially when everyone can't be together.

Every child is different, but we recommend this book for ages 4+.
